Nokia N910 . . . My Concept

I am so thrilled by Nokia n900 that it’s the perfect device for me. I love the UI of it. I’m a kind a person that gets attracted by a pretty cool interface and fell for it considering its potential. So keeping in mind all the specification of N900 it’s still not a perfect phone. Well no phone is perfect! So I have decided to upgrade it a bit.

Considering it’s a Concept I have in my mind for Nokia N910, If there would be any. Following are the upgrades:

Display

·         3.5” SUPER AOMLED Capacitative Touch screen 16M colours.

·         Dimension same as N900

Processor

·         1 GHz minimum

Camera

·         8 mega pixel, Carl Zes with Xenon Flash( Primary)

·         1 Mega Pixel or VGA( Secondary)

Connectivity

·         Bluetooth 3.0

·         USB ON THE GO ( Must since that’s what makes Nokia Different)

Multimedia

·         Music Player with customisable themes, MP3,AC3,OGG,WAV etc

·         Movie Player, MP4, AVI,RM, 3GP,FLV, QT,MPEG etc

·         Video Editor

·         Photo Editor

These are some of the feature that should be upgraded for the Nokia N910, Well at least I think so. Can be better, can be worse. But if Nokia is planning to work on N910 then some of the feature are essential that it should have and I consider them as MUST HAVE:

·         MEEGO and can be upgraded to Android.

·         USB ON THE GO

·         At least an AMOLED screen, its high time Nokia joins the race.

·         Proper video playing Codecs. ( FLV, QT, MKV)

·         An Office Editor and not Just Viewer.

·         Portrait mode for the whole OS and not just some Applications.

·         Capacitative touch with a Special Stylus with a special tip that works on the capacitative Touch. ( I should be able to click a link without zooming in)

·         Improved Battery life. At least 1500mAH battery.

·         1 Ghz processor minimum.

We are there to help Nokia to build a better device for us and for them.  Our feedback is what they are highly concerned about and our recommendation is the source of their new innovation. Its just some unique ideas that can take Nokia over its competitors and eventually the share price ;).

I could have gone for the perfect device and could have made an ultimate one, but HEY let’s just save the last DANCE!

Nokia N900 SOME THOUGHTS and Vs netbook

he last 15 days with N900 has been the best days and the best trial ever that will definitely effect my buying decision after couple of months when N8 will be in the markets. The most exhilarating 15 days of my life. I’ll skip the specification part since N900 is already famous among us.

So let’s start with the Good side.

Very powerful OS. The flexibility and customization and Mod’s available for Maemo 5 are more than enough to describe this OS, unlike Symbian or any other.

One thing I would say for sure, if someone knows Linux or Python, he can literally re-create this device and can do wonders with the OS. And for those who are not acquainted with the programming languages can enjoy the powerful experience N900 has to offer.

The Screen Size 3.5’’ and the Display is next to HD. I’ve watched movies on it and have ENJOYED them! This is the mobile device to watch movies on.

32GB of space, more than enough until you want to install MAC OS X on it. And if it’s not enough you can plug another memory card as per your need.

A very comfortable three row keyboard. Although I didn’t anticipated that it’s going to be good, but it worked just fine.

Music playback and quality is fine considering the headset that is provided with it.

Camera Quality, 5 mega pixels works pretty decently in bright daylight but works equally average in the night. Video recording is decent as well. Although camera could have been better considering that it’s a 5 mega pixel.

The fact that there aren’t many applications for Maemo 5 but no matter how many there are they are all worth trying.

The Social networks integration is something to appreciate about. You have skype, facebook, google, msn, jabber etc.

The Bad side:

What good the device is if all the goodies I mentioned above one cannot enjoy in one go. The battery life is unexpectedly below average. Considering that it’s a 600 MHz processor and a 3.5’’ screen Nokia should have been smart enough to provide with at least a 1500 mAH battery.

The touch can be a little annoying if you’re not used to it.

For those people who aren’t big fan of heavy devices, they might be a little aloof towards it, BUT remember this device is worth the weight.

Can N900 replace my Net book?

Many people agree that YES N900 can replace a net book but I don’t. What people do is that they compare the potential of those two devices. Net book is made for giving you 24/7 connectivity and thus N900 ultimate browsing experience and social network integration is the best part about it.

No doubt the browsing experience is something that is worth but on a net book u can just do a little more then what u have been hearing about. E.g Adobe photoshop, it can run that, I’ve run that on Nokia Booklet 3G. Other software includes windows movie maker, and all sort of media converters. So the thing is the limit of those potential is the thing. N900 can play nearly any format but still, lacks to play certain flv content and blureay or mkv format. At times it gave me an error on MP4, I don’t understand that, may be because of the bitrate and stuff.

So, yes may in your bed while going to sleep, you might want to give a last tweet through your N900 and not go into the hassle of waiting till your net book’s desktop opens which will take ages.

Its no doubt the potential of N900 that gives arise to this question ‘Can N900 replace my net book’

Convenience is the issue, and not what it can do.

• Will it more Convenient to work on an excel spreadsheet on a net book with a 10.1” or a 3.5”.

• The Battery life 3 hours vs 10 hours.

• 32GB vs 120GB

• Maemo 5 vs Windows 7 Starter.

Ok N900 can fit in your pocket but a netbook can fit in your bag so not that big issue with the portability.

I would say it’s not wise to say that N900 can replace my net book but Its much wiser to say that N900 is Almighty in cellphone.

WOMWORLD #NokiaDATE . . . Beloved N900

It’s not the First time that many of us are having this feeling, this un explainable, darkness, no hunger, no sleep and the fact that makes it worse is that IT WASN’T a girl who LEFT YOU but your dream Nokia Device! WomWorld just discovered the Name of this disease known as DATE.

Despair After Trial Expires, yes the name says it all.

I AM a DATE SUFFRER

Its 1 am in the night and I can’t sleep probably because a few hours ago I was saying good bye to my Dream device Nokia N900. After dropping it off to the DHL delivery guy, I came back and haven’t moved from my bed since then. . .

 It all started 20 days ago when I got an email from James that I’ll be getting an N900 for trial. At first I was shocked not because HOW or WHY but because of a drama that I was already going through which casted me, DHL and Albertine.

I couldn’t measure the level of excitement when I sent back the trial agreement and then suddenly I thought pierced my mind! ITS JUST 15 DAYS, the first dose of how the DATE virus starts but at that time the affects are negligible because the cure is already on the way. My default homepage becomes the tracking link that was sent to me by Logistics and my nights became more longer than ever, every phone call that ring in my house, every knock on my door I WAS THERE! I never thought that the facebook fanatic will be stolen by the WomWorld website.

Forgetting that I’m already infected I got my device N900 in the hand finally and it was the best feeling ever! Thinking about two things on my mind, Nokia and WomWORLD and one word out of my mouth THANKYOU.

Ghost handset Syndrome

I never believed in ghosts but now I am a staunch believer. Nokia N8, a friend says every geek’s wet dream, and I’m looking for ways to tell him that it actually is my wet dream. It was in March that my friend got n900 and it had me in the first sight. I couldn’t think of anything else, my first crush, It was like as if I’ve just turned 13 and entered high school. Yea at that time one couldn’t stop thinking about girls but they have been replaced by N900, N8, N97, N97 mini, N910(Concept I have in mind). At times I get to hear that I’m more passionate about these devices than my own girl friend, she’s jealous! Yes believe me, because she was the one who said it to me and who can tell her that’s it’s just a 15 NIGHT STAND! L And eventually she’ll take over. I’ve been enchanted by the GHOST OF PAST ...N97, the GHOST of Present N900 and the GHOST OF FUTURE... N8 and for the first time I wasn’t afraid.

Day Dreaming

Now I wonder why Womworld says 15days, because those actually become 15 days and you forget about the nights except for the fact when date virus becomes stronger at the end of those 15days. I remember 8 years ago I wished I could get a device for trial before I buy it but back then it was just a dream and now Womworld has literally fulfilled it. Who knew that on a 500kb email you’ll end up with 500$ device, But WomWorld is like a Santa clause to us and those 15 days are holidays which includes  Christmas and new year which one always Dream about and are considered the best days of the year.  

Unboxing

Everyone makes plan about their post and trial and pictures and video and specially the unboxing and then the first impression but it’s just a matter of time when the device actually touches your palm and that’s it! The whole world stops for a sudden and before you know it a week pass by in a flash and you haven’t even started making Love to it. 2^nd strike by the DATE virus reminding you about the time period and you go in obscurity, I know I did. And you won’t waste a single second on anything extra but to make sure your dream device gets the full of you and otherwise, but in the end it’s never enough. You go to the bathroom less, you don’t even shave( I haven’t), You keep the device clean more then you keep yourself, you become conscious and obsessed, that’s what this DATE Virus do to you and it’s a fact since the infection in me has fully aggravated . I can feel it now for the first time L I’m missing it.

Pretending

Its 1:45 am in the night and I’m on my bed with a laptop in my lap which is getting warm and considering the fact that I had N900 with me since the last 15 days really made me down to earth towards that device. I have to tweet and I have to write about my review and I have to facebook myself and n900 could have done it by the time a laptop opens up to its desktop. There’s hardly any video left that I haven’t seen on youtube of n900 and N8 considering which to buy if I would buy and making up my mind.

Before my trial with N900 had begun I was TRUELY DEEPLY & MADLY in love with Nokia N8 and was ready to give up my hatered for touch for it because as Courage the cowardly Dog say THINGS I DO FOR LOVE. And I got the trial of N900, I had in mind that I’ll use mostly the touch while typing and doing other stuff and so I did. I was totally obsessed with Nokia N8 which is supposed to be my next DEVICE, but we all know the concept of OTHER GIRL, in this case N900. I had this for trial and one of the many reasons I wanted this trial was because I want to get use to touch screens since N8 is purely touch. So this other girl, we were dating NON-Exclusively but you never know when you fell in Love and you start thinking that this other girl is not just any other girl but THE GIRL for you.

Brother from another Mother

I am very thrilled by the idea of 1000 heads & WOMWorld Nokia that they appreciate what little we have to say and for that they trust with the love we have to offer to the Nokia devices. And this trust builds a unique relation and robust the loyalty we have for Nokia. While reviewing the booklet 3G I gave a few honest recommendations about the device and it was much appreciated by the WOMWorld Staff. And being a Nokia user since the last 8 years, the thought of buying any other phone doesn’t makes me feel good (a trial would do just fine for any other ;)) but unfortunately nobody seems to have the type of LOVE Nokia has.

I was offered an Iphone by a friend of mine and I rejected that offer considering I’m not a big fan of touch phone BUT since the last couple of months I’ve been obsessed with & dreaming about Nokia N8 knowing that as people say DON’T HUNT WHICH YOU CAN’T KILL!  

I couldn’t thank much to WomWorld, I’m out of words since they are one of the best things that ever happened to me . . . and they’ll always be. Thumbs UP guys!!

This was my story for the last 15days that I’m going through, considering this will get me an N97mini??? May be WomWorld knows better but it’s a glance that I’ve shown you, a tip of the iceberg and as they say “THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHERSIDE”

I just woke up abruptly and I felt the n900 in my hand but it was just a matter of second that I realized that I had a dream. It’s really a painful feeling when you are dreaming about something that you’re into it until when at a sudden your eyes open up! “OHHH!!”

It’s hard for me to decide between the two since one is made for me (N900) and other one is I Desire (Nokia N8). And that both are out of my league and that both are the NEXT BIG THING. But still if you’re not 1^st or 2^nd you can always have a 3^rd spot and considering N97mini being the third spot is much wiser and pleasurable option than to fell for something which is out of your league. And the amount of time one has to invest for an ultimate smartphone is a suffering in itself and I hope this competition is really a cure. .

Symbian^ 4 Teasers

Since Nokia has decided that the future devices will be Meeego, people cared less about Symbian or Symbian 4. However while symbian 3 is yet to make an impact Symbian 4 showed up. the Shots below doesnt show much but shows enough to get you aquainted.

3D effect and transparency are yet to be seen but symbian 4 is still in development stages. Keep in mind that nokia has targeted its midrange devices for this OS while Meego for upper High end devices.

N900 Picture Quality. Not Outstanding but Standing Enough!

A Couple of months ago my friend reviewd N900 and at that time I first aquainted with the device. my first words were WOW seconded by PATHETIC considering its camera quality. With a 5 mega pixel camera it should atleast worth enough to get compared with N95 or N97. The picture quality was highly unimpressive and considering that it has 5 mega pixel, it was dissapointing.
However I have this device for a week now and my experience is exquisite. The picture quality, Well you can see it for your self.

All of these picture are taken in a cloudy and sunny weather and to my surprise it was pretty good. I took my Second WORD back. This is my University Institute of Business Management IoBM and N900 seems to like it.

XBOX Kincet. . . . The Controller is YOU!!

The time has come, XBOX Kinect is OFFICIALY be releasing in couple of months with a Price tag of arround 150 US$. The Xbox Kinect previously Known as the Project NATAL will provide a gaming experience like never before. The Player itself is the controller. It uses motion capture technology which captures the movement of the human and the player move accordingly in the games. Keep in mind that You've got to have an XBOX 360 if you want to enjoy this experience, since the motion capture device is known as the KINECT. So far 16 games tittle are announced with this Kinect technology.

I'm certain for sure that many out there is still comparing XBOX KINECT with PLAYSATATION MOVE, Well according to me Playstaion Move is not worth comparing with Kinect but NINTENDO Wii is since they both belong to the same league, having joypad with motion sensor. As far as the XBOX KINECT is Concerned, Nintendo Wii and Playstationm Move are out of its league. This is very first time that there would be a gaming experince like this.

N900 . . . Love on first sight.

I do believe in love on first sight and I did fell in love when this device came to my doorstep( Thank you WOMWORLD). The Nokia N900 is a bulky yet Sleek device which says it all on the face. It has the a pretty decent weight but its worth it. I'm posting a few picture's right now and will be coming up with my experience with it later. Until next time, Enjoy!

An evening with Nokia E72

I’m using my Nokia E63 since the past 7, 8 months and I’m in love with it. I think it’s the best deal out there with a QWERTY keyboard and wifi etc. So this past weekend I got a chance to get my hands on the Nokia E72. Now before using it I was really impressed by the phone but unfortunately it didn’t lived up to my expectations.

Following were my findings during the 3 days that I had it. Let’s go about it one by one.

• Brilliant build quality I must say, I like stuff that are heavy and shinny. The back cover design of stripes might be catchy for some people but it wasn’t for me.
• I had some serious issues with the OS. I found it pretty messy and unstable. It needs updates. It crashed two times during a visit to me while I was just texting.
• The predictive isn’t that smart. It changes the word rather than completing it.
• The standby time is pretty good but the talk time isn’t.

Now if I compare it with my E63 phone, I’ll tell that My E63 has a much better predictive and by the usage it has become smart since all predictive do, but what I mean here is that mine was born smart. A very comfortable keypad in the Nokia E63, very easy to use and fits my thumb perfectly. On the other hand E72 has pretty hard keys to press on which at the end of the day, are not very comfortable. I could have use the phone without charging for more than 3 days but when you talk through it you might need a charger in your pocket. Maybe its the battery or maybe it’s the OS that not showing properly the battery meter or may be it shows properly when you’re on call. It’s been more than 7 months with my E63 and my battery still goes to 2 days with 2hours of average daily talk time.

Nokia E72 is not a big step for me; apart from the metal it’s pretty the same. Now I’m a QWERTY user since a long time so it’s not up to the mark for me but for any new buyer on QWERTY it might be a big deal. He’ll love the metal, and will adjust him/herself with an unfriendly OS.

I wouldn’t consider it as the best deal or best value for money, when you have E71 or E63 but if money is not an issue than it is something that you would enjoy holding more in your hand rather than keeping it in your pocket. 

N8 . . Anticipating the HYPE?

N8 is about to release, Rumors has it that September will be the lucky month. So whats the price you are anticipating? A few sources is saying its around 370 Euros or 550$ to be approximate. Well what about the Asian markets?? One thing is for sure that it will take some time to get an official release over here. 

One of the website I was visiting and I came across the price of Nokia N8 in PKR it was around 46000 Rs. Now the website looks pretty Legitimate but then again we have to wait and see. I'm keeping my fingers crossed since N8 is definitely on my buying list and yes I can say that pretty confidently because I know whats the device is worth and its potential.
